Consists of selections from the van Eeghen papers relating to possibilities in America after the Revolution, 1792-1797; a 17th century memoir of "Terra Neua"; journals of Samuel Fuller on trips from the Cape of Good Hope to Port Jackson and Amboyna, Boston to India, and India to the Cape of Good Hope, 1799-1801; material on financial matters in Pennsylvania and Massachusetts, 1790; and letters to Everhardus Johannes Potgieter and his poems relating to Abraham Lincoln, 1860-1866. Selections from the P. A. Diederichs collection comprise a series of mostly American letters, 1711-1864, including correspondence of John Quincy Adams, Alexander D. Bache, Elias Boudinot, James Buchanan, Benjamin F. Butler, Martin Van Buren, Caleb Cushing, Edward Everett, and Daniel Webster; and some French letters including those of Edmond C. Genet and Joseph Bonaparte.
